"Add RAMs"

That's what my friend said should be done to fix his slow wifi. It doesn't affect his phone because he has regular service for that, but now that he's got roku tv, it could be a problem. I often use wifi for my phone there. Does increasing bandwidth really help? There's only one company providing wifi in the back of beyond, and he had to go all the way over to the highway to get it done. By the way, internet service was practically nonexistent the other day, but it was cured by nightfall.

Adding RAM to a device will not increase your internet speed.

A higher bandwidth will help, yes.

Bandwidth is how fast data can travel to your computer, so for example if your friend currently has a 10Mbps connection increasing it to 30Mbps will make the WiFi faster.

...assuming your friends internet provider actually provides the speed they advertise.

however, adding ram to your phone will make it faster. but unfortunately adding components to a phone is not like a pc where you can piece the whole thing together by adding everything together rather then buying the whole thing all at once. phones are not like that. you get what you get.

and like @kate said wifi speeds are dictated by your internet provider and what plan speeds you have. having a faster router might help. but the router will only be as fast as what your internet provider gives it.

I guess we'll just have to contact the isp and find out what they can do (and get paid for) to speed up things. I hope they have a good solution that doesn't cost too much. Still, out in the sticks people are probably lucky to have this much. Wait...is that the Pony Express rider?
