Add Speed Dail widget to Desire home screen

I would like one button on my home screen that goes to

Phone > menu > Speed Dial

Is this possible?

I don't really want a number of buttons for each contact; the Speed dial list suits me.

In market are speed dial apps and widgets available. Why don't you install one of them on your phone?
With the app's or widget's icon you will access directly its speed dial list

I have some experience of Dialer One on another phone but thought that I could get similar without adding another app to this phone.
