Help Adding Contacts to My Contact List on Transform

Hello I have the Samsung Transform and have synced it with Gmail. Now when I go to enter in a new contact name and number it does not save it to my contacts. If I dial the number I saved it will show up on my call log with the name, but it never appears in my contact list. Can anyone help me with this? I'm super new to android and super frustrated. Any help is appreciated.

Go to your contacts screen, press the menu button at touch 'Display Options' then touch whatever your email address is and then check every check box you see, including the top check option 'Only contacts with phones'. Hope this solves your problems
