Hey guys, I've become curious enough to try and add Google Now to my Motion 4g.
I have previously rooted my phone, and use Super SU to manage root permissions to apps, I'm using ES File Explorer as my file manager.
I'm trying to follow the directions on this thread to add Google Now:
[Guide]- How to install Google Now in Easy Steps w/ Pictures
So, following the steps, I open up ES File Explorer (where I get prompted to allow root access, which I do), then I copy the downloaded "system" folder from a network location, go back to the root of the phone's storage, and try to paste it but I get a message saying "copy failed" and "access denied".
I tried another step: simply renaming googlequicksearchbox.apk googlequicksearchbox.apk.bak but it would not let me either.
I even tried going under the "app settings" and disabling Google Search thinking that the renaming was being denied because the app was in use, but that made no difference.
I though that once an app (ES File Explorer) has root access, it would not have problems making changes to system files, but obviously I'm overlooking something.
If someone could point me in the right direction, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
