Adding move to SD option to apps

I found this tutorial. Is this something I can do to existing apps? Or it is more for apps that I would make myself?

That's for apps you make yourself. Moving an app to the SD card is only enabled if the developer explicitly enables it when the app is built.

Not 100% correct. If you root your phone, you can move any app anywhere.

I was hoping for this option in lieu of rooting my phone. But I guess I just need to sit down and root the thing. I'm so sick of running out of internal memory and having to clear caches so I can receive text messages while my 16gb SD card sits virtually empty.

Just FYI: some apps dont work well on the SD, (widgets especially).

Clearing cache isn't a good approach as cache will build back up as you use your apps. You might want to look into cleaning up data (frequently overlooked) for your apps as it uses the same storage space.
