Adding new contacts from the handset

Whenever I add a new contact via the handset and not Google contacts it adds it self to the 'Phone' view even thought I only have 'Google' and 'Only show contacts with numbers' selected.. Can I not make it add to Google by default and Google only?

when you create the new contact, you have to set "contact type" to "google". This is how I do it and it now defaults to google.
