Help adding ringtone to directory

I have a ringtone that I copied from my DInc but the RAZR wont let me copy it to the ringtone folder saying it is read only.

how do you add an imported ringtone to the selection list?

EDIT: followed suggestion of loading Zedge, ringtone I wanted was there... case closed.

I know you found a work around, but here's how I do it.

On my SD card I create a directory called MySounds (name is not important). In there I create two directories - notifications and ringtones. Name is important here. I put my extra sound files in these folders and they show up as notifications and ringtones depending on what folder they're in. I think I could do the same for alarms if I wanted different alarm sounds.

Not sure if a reboot is required if you add sounds. In other words, I don't remember if android only reads the file systems on the phone and SD card at boot time looking directories with the appropriate names or if it picks up changes on the fly.

Likewise, I also create directories on my SD card called MyMusic and MyPictures and put the obvious files and directories in there. The phone finds these files and directories automatically. Again, name here of directories is not important as far as I know. It's the files in them that are, or at least the file types. Image files are placed in the gallery and sound files go in the music library (although I currently have no sound files in MyMusic so I might be off base here.) Actually you can place sound and image files anywhere on the SD card and android will find them, I believe. I put them in these directories just to keep them organized.
