Adding widgets to the lockscreen

Does anyone know how to add other widgets to the lockscreen BESIDES the very limited list of widgets that show up when accessing the lockscreen edit mode?

There must be something I'm missing.

The stock lockscreen doesn't permit that - but you can use apps like widgetlocker that will permit you to use other widgets.

The only widgets that you are able to add to the lock screen are widgets for apps that have a widget set up to function as a lock screen widget. For whatever reason, a lot of devs and apps haven't done this. So if there is an app and you really want that widget on your lock screen, I would say to get in contact with the app developer.

Thanks for that info!! One would think at this point of smartphone app technology, widget makers would add lockscreen options for their designs....................

A lot are probably holding off since it doesn't look like lock screen widgets will continue in android L
