Adobe DRM no longer sucks - ebook reader issues

Apparently there's a limit to how many times you can activate your Adobe DRM ID - who knew? Now when I try to sign in it tells me too many activations!

The trouble is Adobe assumes that a device only has one reader, (like a kindle). Even though they say you only have to activate your device once, in reality each reader app seems to be activated separately. I only use 2 devices for reading but I've got several reader apps.

I'd really prefer to have just one, but some work better with certain books, some just refuse to open some books. bookstores have their own reader app. So I end up with Lumiread, Kobo, Kindle, Aldiko, Dymocks, Zinio. Some I've had to re-install and reactivate DRM and often when I switch between apps I have to reactivate

I love being able to carry a library of books and magazines with me on my tab. In fact the main reason for me getting a tab was the bigger screen is better suited for reading. But Adobe DRM is just annoying (edited).
TLDR
So now the rant is out of the way;
1. Has anyone had experience with removing Adobe DRM (I just want to read the books I've bought without the hassles, I'm not into piracy).

2. Is there an ebook reader that just works with everything? I've tried the ones listed above and they don't.

BTW - If you come up against "too many activations", the only fix seems to be to register a new Adobe DRM ID and download all your books again from wherever you bought them with your new ID (if you can).
There doesn't seem to be any way to reset and delete old activations. Anyone got any tips on this?

Actually I chased this up with Adobe customer support. They provide live chat support and their client support person (Sheik) reset my activation count straight away and waited while I confirmed activation success on my tab.

So I take back everything I said (and thought) about Adobe, they are better than great after all!
