Adobe Flash installed on Adroid-but nothing!

Saw a few threads on the subject, but nothing like this...
OK, I have version 2.1+Update1, so it comes up and says V2.2.

SO I got the Zip w/ the apk inside for V10.1 of flash, followed everything to the letter. Now, it installed without issue. It dosn't show up in the big list of apps, but under settings/apps it's there Adobe Flash 10.1.

So it appears it's on there and does not seem to cause probs.

BUT, when I go to a flash page or anythng, it's like it's doing Nothing.

I did a quick search-top flash pages....tried them, most defaulted to the mobile sites, others w/0 mobile, didn't work like on the pc.

Went to funnyordie.com, lots of video, has a mobile site it defaults to, but at the bottom, you can click desktop view, I click that and try a video, boom it closes down the browser.

Overall, it's on there, but appears to be doing NOTHING!

Any ideas what would be going on? Even other sites w/ video, didn't work, some directed me to adobe to tell me to update, then was told it was not available for mobile device, BUT adobe does have a write up about mobile flash and system requirements, etc. But no download, gotta get it from whereever, it's all over.

I don't have a clue, it's taking nearly 13MB, and Nothing!.

Any ideas would be appreciated....
Thanks...
Jeff

OK, That makes a TON of sense. I just wonder why on this phone (Its an inexpensive Huawei Ascend), but when I open this "storefront" app (Like market but from the carrier, Cricket), it comes up and says Version 2.2....I alway KNEW, that it was just 2.1 w/ the update, not the real 2.2...Glad to have someone verify that for me.

I assume that when 2.2 is available, it should become shown as an "Update" from the carrier, when click in settings "Check for updates" OR will I have to Root/Install?

But this all makes sense w/ Flash, so thanks. I'll take it off, and hold on to what I have just in case, so I can try if I can get 2.2 going.....

Just a small note, wonder why during install, it didn't warn or someting saying "Hey, you have 2.1 w/ update1", this may have problems ....or something like that. I guess th install dosn't run a check.

Oh well, thanks again....Jeff

Here's a hint, I heard the same thing. Just go to the market and get skyfire browser 3.0 it supports flash in a sense that you can watch flash videos on your ascend.

I don't know why it didn't warn you...
Flash is pre-installed on my device and I also run 2.1 wich is pretty useless...

Inform at huawei if there are plans for the 2.2 update for your device and otherwise you can root your device and install a custom ROM.

Thanks HUGE Mindbenda for the skyfire advice!! I will def. give it a try.

yoram: any hints on where to find some good custom ROMS?? I use Z4Root, usually Temp Root, do my thing, restart and it's back to normal, but I can keep it rooted permanent (also an option w/ Z4, allows either).

BUT, I've looked all over and never found any ROMS I would like to try, pretty much never found much at all. To a little nudge in the right direction would be nice....THANKS.....
Jeff
PS: Gotta say, to all you here on the Thread-Thanks a TON! Saves me hours of research and I gotta say you guys are awesome, thanks for the help!

What's up Mindbenda....I do thanks for the info...But, I went and got skyfire, basically so far...failure.

Now I cannot YET say 100% failed, because I have not yet tried to watch just standard flash videos with it, BUT, always test with a decent Flash page.

No clue why but I always use www.2advanced.com Run it on your PC, then run it on your Android, you'll see what I mean, even with the skyfire same result as with the default browser.

That site was one of the "Top 10 Flash pages" I don't know what that means, but if you search (From PC) for "best flash pages" you'll see a link, (not exactly ), but something like "Best Flash Pages for 2011" has a nice list of "Flash pages"

I always use some of these to "Test" what ever I'm doing messing w/ the flash.

I am so so so close to just giving up for now and see what time brings.

TO THOSE W/ PRE-INSTALLED FLASH: Try that link I listed, let me know if it runs w/o a hitch? Curious to see if it really is full blown flash or some simulated thing? I believe it is what they say, I would just love to hear what happens when you try a page like that.

This being said I do thank you for the advice and say I know you didn't mislead me at all, as I know you said it "Sort of" had support and you could watch videos, you never said it would run a full blow flash page, so I really do still appreciate the advice, since I'm going to try it out on some videos, etc.

As always, any other ideas, comments, etc. are appreciated.
ESPECIALLY, in that area of customer ROMS? I've very curious on this.

Also, since I'm here 1 more: When 2.2 is fully released, I will/should be able to get it just thru the carrier (Check for updates) right? Or are updates like that something I need to seek out, possible Root and get on there? Maybe a stupid ques. Like I said I'm fairly new to alot of this, but gaining fast...Lol..

Thanks again to all for the help and comments/suggestions/etc...

Hope to hear some more...Thanks....(as of this second, sounds like I need to have 2.2 and I would be golden?)...

Anyway, Thanks again......Jeff

PS: www.funnyordie.com (sure your familiar), the "Desktop" version still crashes out the browser (skyfire), and shuts it down when you try and view a video in that mode?
Just an FYI....
Thanks though, all is worth a try...
