Adobe Flash

i noticed Adobe Flash is now available on android market. Stupid question by a noob here....i thought androids came stock with flash? I just purchased my first android smartphone...HTC Sensation 4g. Youtube works right out of the box. Doesnt that use flash?

Welcome to Android Forums.

The Flash player is only supported in Android 2.2 or later and must meet a minimum hardware requirement.

ok so my sensation has adroid is running 2.3. Do i need to download the Adobe Flash app or does flash come working out of the box for a gingerbread phone? I believe youtube uses flash and thats already working on my phone.

well if i dont need to id rather not download it and have something using up resources that i dont need.

I guess my question is does dowloading the adobe flash app do anything. I was under the assumption that iphones did not support flash and androids supported flash right out of the box. What do i gain by downloading this app.

You get the latest player. Android has support for Flash "out of the box" but that's not the same as pre-installed.

Either way, you lose nothing by downloading it. If some version of it is on your phone, this will just replace the old version. If nothing is on your phone, you get Flash.

Also you should keep Flash Player up to date, so really there is no downside, and several upsides here.

Hope that helps

i guess ill download it and see if i notice any differences. Right now when i view all apps i dont have any Adobe Flash app. However...like i said i have Youtube preinstalled and i can view videos no problem....and i know youtube uses flash. So i just assumed flash is already installed on androids.
