Adopt an unanswered thread!

ardchoille

Android Expert
I try to browse the unanswered threads daily to see if there are any to which I can lend my knowledge. I usually find one or two each day and submit the best answer I know. This performs four functions; a) it helps another user by answering a question, b) it helps the community by providing an answer to a question that someone else may eventually have; c) it cuts down on the number of unanswered threads; d) more eyes helping to weed out spam.

Please click here and join me in adopting an unanswered thread :D

*hugs Ardchoille for being adorably helpfully cute*

Thanks Ardchoille for answering those poor unaswered threads :D

Just so you know, links for searches tend to stop working here after a short while, you need this link:

Unanswered Threads

Is there a way to further narrow the unanswered thread to a specific forum?? While many posted questions are of a general nature that can be answered by an "android phone user" some are phone specific. And for me, personally, I was looking for a way to search for unanswered thread in, e.g., the HTC EVO 4G sub-forum...

THANKS!

Just do an advanced search from within whichever forum you want to search in, and change the "Find thread with" ... "At least 0 replies" to "At Most 0 replies" and hit search, no keywords.

Should work.

One thing I like to do is, once in the "unanswered threads" list, hit "last" in the "page 1 of 8" box. That'll take you (obviously :D) to the last page which is the first in date and time (oldest) of the unanswered OPs. ;)

Ahh, OK...makes sense....I was trying to tweak the site-wide unanswered thread result, trying to order/arrange columns ("Forum") for some reason...thanks!!

Yes that's good too...and it doesn't take too long to sift through the 8 pages or so :)

Unanswered Threads

Ok...I might be losing my mind here but bear with me and I talk/type this out...

I check the unanswered thread link above and there is a list of 200 threads, 25 per page for 8 pages. I assumed that search to be "site-wide" as it lists unanswered questions from different forums such as Android Applications, Introductions, LG Ally, etc.

I then just tried Phases' suggestion to do a "at most 0 answers" advanced search with a specific forum (HTC EVO 4G) and got the following result:

HTC EVO 4G Unanswered Threads

What I noticed however, is that in the EVO 4G thread alone there are at least 200 unanswered threads!! And if that is the case why was the "site-wide" unanswered link above "only" 200 thread with hardly any (if any) EVO 4G unanswered threads listed?? The result is that there are, unfortunately, MANY more unanswered threads in specific forums than Xyro's link provides

I guess the specific question is: what is Xyro's link above searching?? I picked the description "site-wide" but doesn't look like it is quite site-wide...what is it??

Well, the site wide pulls the latest 200 threads with no reply across the site, with a week long limit.

A forum search like I showed pulls the latest 200 threads with no reply within that forum.

Ok, I see...the 200-limit couldn't possibly cover all the unanswered threads on the entire site, just the most recent. Gotcha now, thanks....

Yeah, every search, be it a real search/favourite forums/viewing all of someone's posts/unanswered threads/etc, are all capped at 200 results. Presumably for the sake of the server.

All posts ever made here at AF can still be accessed, though. ;)

Eventhough I am only a Junior Member, I too try to respond to Unanswered Threads.

My reasons, like to try to share knowledge, and I feel that since I have gotten so much help from the great people here, that I should give back to the community.
