Hi all, been banging my head against the wall with this one so thought I'd bite the bullet and ask on the forums..

I have this phone and with 8GB internal storage and now its updated to Marshmallow I can barely get 2 apps on it before it runs out of space. I heard about Adoptive/Adoptable storage where my 64GB SD card can be seen as internal storage (but of course the Sony version on this phone doesn't have that option).

I tried this https://forum.xda-developers.com/m4-aqua/general/adoptive-storage-marshmallow-t3421828 and eventually got the adb stuff to accept the commands to make 50% of the card adoptive (had to use a different, better quality card). But even though that seemed to work I was expecting to have 8GB+32GB of internal storage. What happened was I got a really big random number stated as my internal storage (which I don't care about) but I then tried to download a smallish app and was told not enough storage. So this clearly didn't work and I was thinking maybe this hack enables me to move those apps to the SD card that previously would refuse to move - but this wasn't the case either (built in apps that refused to move before, still refuse to move). Would anyone know how this *should* work and if so, a link to some instructions that may get it to work.

Thanks very much
John

Internal storage is an option of the stock Android, but big manufacturers have their own Android versions that are optimized for specific devices. Even if the trick works for you this time, you might run into troubles when you apply updates on your device.
