Help Adoptive storage

Hi
I've bought my son an Alcatel phone, when I put in the SD card it gave me the option to combine the storage, all worked great and apps were moved to the SD card and new apps download and installed straight to the card but now it's stopped working

Every time he tries to download an app it wants to install onto the phone which doesn't have enough space and cannot get it to install anything onto SD card anymore

SD card shows in settings and has loads of space

Can't find a setting to make it default storage.

Any help appreciated

Thanks

Chris

Welcome to Android Forums!

Once you select adaptive storage, the SD card ceases to be an alternate storage location and becomes one big storage location with the phone's internal memory. I don't know how many apps are now on the device, or how many pictures/videos/songs... but something is eating up all that memory. Go into Settings/Storage and see if you can find out what the culprit is.

Personally, I do not like the idea of adaptable storage for one reason: if the phone is damaged or destroyed, everything on it would be lost. If I keep the SD card as a separate storage location, I can easily pop it out, put it in a new phone and keep going. Just something to consider.

If he is downloading games, those take up a lot of space. Also, what speed/brand/type is the sd card? Where did you buy the card?

Need at least a UHS-1 card, preferably better.

You do have an option to make it "portable/external" again but you will lose all your data.

Hi
Thanks for reply
The phone storage (SD card)is saying I have 29 GB free space , my son hasn't installed hardly anything the phones internal storage is almost full.
The thing is it was working fine apps were downloading and installing onto the SD card but now they wont it looks like the last few have installed on internal Storage and I can't see any setting to move apps installed on phone to memory card

Any ideas
