Advanced Task Killer - why so many apps running?

Ok, i'm a newb with Android and I followed the advice of getting ATK installed to "Quit" apps and preserve battery life. My problem is so many apps are running and I never launched them. WTH?

Why are so many apps constantly running? I can quit all apps, plug into charger, then check it 10-15 minutes later & they are all up again. Apps like Sprint Navi, Amazon MP3, etc.....stuff I never use at all.

Any advice or input that would help?

Too bad on following that advice...you may get better battery life but it will mess up your OS in the long run. Good luck and this has been discussed many times. This isn't windows.

Its sprints bloatware..nothing u can do about it unless u root ur device. Theres nothing wrong with using Atk...just make sure u research it and use it correctely. Your phone will be fine

I haven't bothered with a task killer since I got my launch EVO. I just let Android handle everything and battery life seems decent.

The ONLY thing I do (and it's probably not necessary) is use startup cleaner 2.0 to prevent Sprint NFL from running.

I spoke with HTC and they told me that it was an Android thing. It's supposed to "help" you access the items that it "thinks" you want to use faster. They also told me that it "really shouldn't be using up any battery or cpu cycles" - dont believe that though. They did help me with some of the settings in ATK that make it function better.
