I sold my Triumph and need to know if the phone has to be in the stock setup to be turned back on by Virgin Mobile? It's running MDEV-CM7 right now with CWM for a recovery.

Yes, it must be stock to be activated

It can still have a custom recovery, but must have the stock ROM. I would ask the buyer if they want CWM or the stock recovery.
