Adware/Malware

I'm assuming adware/malware is my problem...I've been getting ads on my notification bar for awhile, but NOW they are starting to put their own icons on my home screen!!! WTH? Is this one of those cases where I need to go thru my apps & review their permissions, or is there simply something I can install to block all this crap-o-la??

You might like to try Avast, which is pretty good at helping avoid Malwear and also an app by an AF staffer - PocketPermissions - this is by alostpacket (a Mod on here), who created the following thread on the subject of Malwear - http://androidforums.com/android-ap...explained-security-tips-avoiding-malware.html

For the notification bar stuff, you need Add-Ons detector.

Airpush Detector will also help you find out which apps are doing it.

I downloaded Ad Network Detector by Lookout Mobile, which I also have for security/backup/privacy, etc. Seems to be working well. Turns out ALL the ads were coming from a single wallpaper app. Sad, too, cause that wallpaper was one of my favorites! LOL Oh, well.

I'll check out your suggestions, too.
