hi, Im considering buyin the Wildfire HTC.
but Im wondering about afew things.
I know its a pretty week phone. but before I buy it I would like to know if he answers my needs:
1) is it smooth on loading videos from the internet? like youtube and such?
2) is it true you cant run flash on it?
3) is there a chance that in the next 6months there would applications (not games) that wouldn't work on the wildfire cuz of the low cpu?
4) is it true that the wildfire would not have a better os then android 2.2?
5) Im a person who like to play with the phone, and apps and all that
would that be a problem with a phone like wildfire?
6) hows the surfing experience on it?

dose who have the phone plz reply so I could finally make up my mind about the phone, thanks!

Welcome to the forums!
I don't have Wildfire but try to answer your questions anyway :
1) I have tried some Youtube videos on my old G1, which is "powerfull" like Wildfire without problems (lowres). Of course other videos (local stored, higher resolution, high compressed) are not smooth at all.
2) Yes, it's true. Flash needs ARMv7 processor, which is equipped just in highend devices.
3) Not. Some apps will not work because of small Wildfire screen resolution, some will not work because of lack of space on device (some can be installed to sdcar on Android 2.2 Froyo, but not all), some because of lack of ARMv7 processor, some because of lack of GPU. But CPU is fine and most apps will run (maybe slow, but still run) except these not working for previously mentioned reasons.
4) Latest official build is 2.2. Unofficial ones (like Cyanogenmod) can be 2.3.3 now.
5) I'm the same kind and was playing with the G1 first week. The worst thing which can happen is that the application will FC (force close - stop working), phone will stop working (I've seen some bad written apps which can do this). But if you read the guides and don't install every low-rated crap application, nmothing should happen. Of course if you decide to root the phone, you can mess more, but as long as you follow guides, everything is pretty safe.
6) Android browser is fine working (except lack of Flash), I never had problems displaying any sites. Of course the phone screen is too small and makes browsing difficult, but with zooming it's usable.

I've had a wildfire for about 9 month.
1. You tube is fine on the built in you tube app.
2. it only has FlashLite. It can't run full Flash 10 (no iPlayer, no Google Earth etc.)
3. There are already a few apps that won't run on a wildfire. Either because of Flash or the cpu or the screen res. e.g. Skype can be installed but is unusable for voice calls
4. No idea
5. it depends what 'all that' means
6. Surfing is as good as your connection. You will need to zoom to read any text. You really appreciate the HTC text reflow on the Wildfire

It's been a good phone for the money for me but if I were buying now I'd be very interested in what HTC's newer phones do to the prices right across the range.

I have had the wildfire for a week due to an insurance claim and lack of ability to replace mey Orange SF which upset me! The screen was IMHO a masive let down in terms of quality, you really notice the difference however.....IF you have had a phone thats isnt a smartphone this could be considered an upgrade. TBH this is opening my eyes to the HTC style and build (which is good) and also the sence UI which again is good!

I personally can get by with it until June when I am due an upgrade.
am making the most of it and am loving Android 2.2 on it. Thankfully ive not had it lock up on me badly it can sometimes get a little cramped onscreen but this doesnt happen too often for me thankfully.

This phone is alright, you can use most apps but not games because it doesnt have a gpu. The flash works on most sites, but if it doesnt then just download skyfire from 4 shared and that turns flash into html 5. I personally although i bourght it, didnt really like the wildfire, although it may look nicer than things like the optimus one, you should really go from something with atleast hvga and 600 mhz. Like the lg optimus one or the zte blade(orange sanfransisco) I had mine for 6 months untill i got annoyed about its speed one games and opening apps. Although tbh the screen was alright after you got used to it. I upgraded to the htc legend :)
