Help After 2.2 update, Problems

We have two Mesmerize phones, both with issues. One of the phones we rooted with the leaked version of froyo from the xda site, the other is completely stock and updated to 2.2.

The first problem we have is that the pictures do not show up after calling someone. When you go to the contacts area, you can see the pictures on the contacts. As soon as you call someone or they call you, the picture of the person displays as the generic picture (as if they did not have a picture on the contact). We have tried a factory reset after the 2.2 update and pulling the battery. This did not fix the problem.

The second problem is that when we did the factory reset on the phone to fix the above problem, it then caused a second problem. We have a specific sound set for the notifications. When we receive a text message, it defaults to the USCC notification instead of using the one we selected (such as Pixie Dust). The notification sound worked correctly before we did the factory reset.

We have talked to U.S. Cellular to see if anyone else is having the issue. Anyone have any ideas?

I am having problems too. Both on the acclaim and mesmerize after 2.2 update anything internet related SLOWED DOWN. Any way to fix that crap?

You did a factory reset. That means you have to reset all of your customizations again.

you can run juice defender which helps. i'd also recommend wiping your phone after backing it up if it's that bad.

Update went without a hitch. Problem is AFTER update, now my much loved (100% stock) Mesmerize is no longer reliable. I have sporatic loss of internet access until power-cycled. I see the roaming indicator sporatically. The built in mail application only sporatically works with Hotmail, now. The built-in browser locks up the phone on certain web pages, leaves the screen in a strange state, power button is not recognized, and requires pulling the battery. The built-in gallery sporatically freezes when deleting pics. The built-in clock application, when using the Timer function, will drain the battery in about 4 hours; shuts down. The power button sporatically is frozen-out. Can only turn off display or power-down the unit by pulling the battery.
So, how about instructions for reverting back to Eclair so I get a GOOD phone back without rooting?

The first question I have for you: Have you taken the phone in to have the 2nd update applied to your phone?

There are now two available.

1st update: Upgrades the phone from 2.1 to 2.2

2nd update: "Patch" update to resolve several issues

Also, once you apply the 2.2 (1st update), it is sometimes necessary to factory reset your phone. The problems you describe suggest to me that a factory reset would be a good idea for you.

Suggestions for you:

1. Verify that you have all updates installed.
2. Have all updates installed at the store, not from your PC/internet download.
3. Factory reset after applying all updates.
