Hey guys I have an HTC M9 and if the battery dies for any reason (not turning off the device the battery dying) when I turn it back on I always get the Android is optimizing apps screen like I updated my phone. After that finishes I have to go into settings and clear the app data for the home screen and gmail or neither open. I'm running Android 6.0 and HTC sense 7.0 (HTC sense is my home screen app) any advice on how to fix this? (Besides not letting my phone die)

Well it is better for the battery not to run it down that far, so that last, obvious suggestion is still a good one.

If it is happening when the battery dies but not after a normal shutdown that suggests that it's shutting down too abruptly (before it can finish writing something, for example). Happening every time is a little odd. You could try clearing system cache from recovery, but that's just a generic guess.

When the battery gets too low, the phone is programmed to just 'shut off now', and when that happens you will loose the data that was being used in memory and not stored.

it can also corrupt the status of the applications, which you have already found out.
No computer likes to be shut down without saving its' current status.

Your only real solution is to observe the battery status and keep it charged at or above about 25% at a minimum.

The battery manufacturers recommend we try to keep the battery at 40% or above for best battery longevity.
i am using a macro that beeps at me when the battery gets too low, in fact it will "speak to me" and says "Battery Low".

I bought an big Anker 26800 power pak to carry with me when I am away from home and unable to use a wall wart charger. that has helped me immensely. I almost never have a battery go low enough to cause the phone to just shut down.

Hopefully, you have an SD card and are storing all of your important data/pictures/videos on that?
