After doing a regular upgrade in the Xoom it rebooted and went into "starting Fastboot protocol support". It is stuck there and nothing is happening.
After I do a hard reset it can boot (to the regular screen with the lock to slide) but after a short while it goes again into the "Power off" "shutting down" which returns me to the Android Recovery mode. This also shows "Reading ODM 1" and goes nowhere.
I tried all 3 options using the volume buttons and nothing goes further than the lines shown after the "volume up" selection is done.
I can't get to the "factory reset" that is mentioned in other posts.
I also let it drain the battery but it made no change.
How can I restore my tablet to working condition?
