Root after working fine for months I'm suddenly stuck on bootloop

Hi,

If anyone is able to offer guidance on how to resolve this I'd very much appreciate it.

I've had my Desire rooted with Cyanogenmod 7 for about six months. Suddenly yesterday it got stuck in bootloop. When I load 4ext it says it can't mount SD card. I have tried USB unbrick option in 4ext and this didn't solve it.

I would like to try to restore my phone with a nandroid backup that I have on my computer, but without being able to mount the SD card I'm not sure how to proceed.

So I have done a factory reset using 4ext, and the phone is now booting and running fine. However I am getting the message that my SD card is damaged.

I have tried formatting the SD card but no change. I have another one that I believe is at work, so I will try this on Monday. It'll be a shame if the SD card is damaged, because it is relatively new.

At least I have a working phone for the weekend. And I'm so glad I have my photos set up to sync automatically to dropbox, because that's really the only thing on my SC card I would want to save.

I've had a number of sd card problems on my desire & my wife's SGS3 that I stood relying on them long ago. I switched from an ext partition to a custom hboot on my desire about 2 Years ago. Indeed my one X+ doesn't even have an sd slot.
