Help Aggravating Text Icon

First I am using Handcent not the stock text program. When I get a text message I get not only the notification icon I get a second icon that tells me I have X numbers of text messages. Any idea how to turn this second notification icon off?

Try turning off your stock notifier if you have not. That maybe the problem. When the stock notifier is left on you will get double notifications..

Fire up "Messaging" (stock txt app), hit MENU, Message Settings, Text Messaging, Uncheck "Notification" at the bottom.
