Short version: Downloaded the AIM app (for my Samsung Stratosphere) and logged in with the screen name I used for my (normal, old) cellphone in the past. Every message received through the app was echoed as a text message to my phone. I tried logging out of AIM, uninstalling the app, going to the AIM website and following instructions to stop text messages from AIM, and nothing has worked.
What is making this situation worse is I am not actually logged out of AIM on that screen name. According to the AIM network I am still logged in, and every message that screen name receives is sending me a text message.
Calling AOL for assistance was less than useless. AOL and AIM's 'Help' section is useless as it doesn't cover the inability to LOG OUT.
I am asking for help in:
--Successfully logging out of the AIM service with that particular screen name
--Successfully ending text message notifications from the AIM service to my cellphone
