Hi, I recently switched from Iphone to HTC inspire and love it. The only thing that I really miss was the Air Video app, and like everyone else tried to find a decent substitute. For awhile I was using Tversity to watch movies on my phone till I stumbled upon this app called “Gmote” in the market place. Gmote, paired with Gmote server which is installed on your media server (Pc or Os X) Gmote > Android Remote (info is off their site) turns an Android into a remote control for a computer, allowing users to run movies and music at a distance. It supports all of the standard remote control features such as play, pause, rewind, volume controls etc. It also has a built-in file browser that lets you select what to play.
But what I also found out was that you have the ability to choose to watch on your PC or your PHONE. So if you are familiar with Air Video, the set up is pretty much the same and it’s FREE!!!!
So to some it up Apps you need;
Gmote App (free)
Gmote server installed on PC or Os X (free) Gmote > Android Remote
Rockplayer light (market place and free) so you can play video files (worked formats avi,) no conversion needed.
Tested on:
HTC inspire
Motorola Atrix
Droid X
