AirStash SD Reader

Is anyone aware of any competitive products out there with similar capabilities (must read SD cards) at a lower price point?

I need a way to view photos stored on an SD card in my trail camera while elk hunting (usually in areas of bad or no coverage). The trail camera does not have a display, and it is not practial to hike a laptop or other devices with SD card port miles into the woods. I would really like to use my phone, since I am already carrying it and using as a GPS (Cabelas has a great hunting GPS app) and for emergency calling (assuming I can find coverage).

I tried an OTG cable with a USB SD Reader, but after buying the cable and testing I found that my Samsung Galaxy Epic 4G Touch with ICS 4.0.4 does not support USB Host. From what I have gathered in reading posts in numerous forums, my phone is actually capable but Sprint has the feature blocked. I am not interested in rooting or any other experimental solutions, as its a company phone under warranty.

I have also looked at using the Eye-Fi SD cards, but it is my understanding that most trail cams run in low-power standbye mode, and dont provide constant power to the SD card. I assume this option will not work reliably.

After looking at both of the previous lower cost options, I have come to the conclusion that the airstash device would solve my problem: I could create an adhoc wifi connection between airstash and my phone, insert the SD card in the airstash reader and view the photos on the SD card wirelessly via my phone while in the field... this solves my problem, BUT these things are over $120 on Amazon with 8GB SD card (which I dont need, Ive got a bunch of SD cards already). I think thats more than I paid for the phone!!

If anyone has any ideas I would be grateful to hear them. Thx!
