Help Alarm will not set for today??

I have an LG LML212VL, that is running Android 8.0.1, and I am not able to set the alarm for today for some reason....
I can set the alarm, for today, in 2 hours from now, but instead it defaults to 'Alarm will sound in 6 Days, 2 Hours'??
I do not want an alarm on my phone that only works for next week, so this is a concern.
Can anyone explain to me in Android for Dummies terms, how to get my alarm to set to go off later today, and not keep repeating every Wednesday for now on, but skip going off tonight??

Is it set for a day of the week - i. e. Tuesday if today is Wednesday?

Is the calendar and clock correct if it hasn't been used for a while?

A screenshot of those settings may help. It's probably something in there.

My phone recently downloaded and installed an updated version of Android, and I was not familiar with how it was setup, but basically, I just had to go to the Alarm page, and click the icon to the far right of the time set for the alarm, and there i was able to click off of the dates I did not want, which left only yesterday's date for the alarm, and it worked out....
Truthfully, I was guilty of not reading the handbook I suppose!!

*I have subsequently disabled the feature to automatically install updates on the phone now to avoid this kind of stupidity in the future*
