Alert if Elderly Parent Not on Normal Schedule

crux

Lurker
Hello,
My mom lives on her own in a different state. I hope to find a solution (app, smart device, etc) that will send me a notification if she is not up at a certain time in the morning or home at a certain time in the evenings. I have a Galaxy 7 and she has a new iPhone and Fitbit.

I just installed Kid Control on both of our phones and set a geofence at her home. This works OK as it alerts me each time she leaves the house or returns. I'm hoping to only receive alerts if she is not on schedule or moving around in the house. Ideally I would get an alert if she has not turned her phone on/moved around by 9am. Then again, I would receive an alert if she was not home by 9pm in the evening. I'm sure there are some devices out there I could install in her home for motion which could work as long as I could get an alert if certain criteria were not met.

Thanks for any recommendations!

Many thanks. This, or some simple motion sensor, might work as long as I could set up notifications somehow (ITTT?) if the cam or motion sensor did not see activity at a certain time each day. I don't want to open an app to check in each day and don't want my mom to have to hit a button on her phone to alert me.

Thanks for helping me think through this!

Interesting concept. I would think there'd be a way using Tasker, but her iPhone puts a snag in that. I could see a IFTTT scenario involving movement, time, and even potentially a text to you if result = 0. Not sure if iPhone has an equivalent app and if so it'd take some significant knowledge to work up a routine for this situation. With 2 Androids, I'd be very confident its doable. Not sure in your scenario however. Just throwing it out there to keep the conversation moving.

Tasker sounds like a great approach. I get the concept but have not used it before. Just purchased it. What if I install the Fitbit app on my phone and log in with her credentials. Could I have Tasker check on my Fitbit app to see if there has been movement every hour between 8am and 9pm or similar? Thanks!

A lot of people swear by Tasker - it is feature rich.
A lot of people swear at Tasker - too complicated.

MacroDroid is used by many people who find Tasker too complicated.

To answer your question ... how do you ask FitBit if it has been moved without using Tasker of MAcroDroid?

... Thom
