Alert sound bt no notification ! What is happening ?

recently, my Note II giving out an alert sound randomly but when i check my phone , no pop out and nothing appear on the screen, its not notification sound, sounds like alert sound/ error sound . before the alert sound issues happened, i did nth on my phones, i dint install new apps too . anyone have idea ?
 
It could be an alert notification, but you would also have an icon in the notification drop down.

Anyways try this, go into your messing app, then hit Menu/setting, then scroll down to Emergency message settings, and check to see if all the alerts are on. I think the only one you cannot turn off is the presidential alerts
 
Do you have Yahoo Mail installed? When it updates, it resets the notification to beep, even if you've turned notification off.
 
Have you got Go SMS (or similar app) installed? Could it possibly be the notification from a private SMS? This causes the phone to emit a notification,but when you look there is nothing on screen or in the drop down notification area.

Have you tried an app such as Notification History to identify the source?

I do use go sms but don't have any private contacts. Still clueless as to why I get these notification sounds but hope to figure it out eventually.
