Help Alerts when you have a missed call or text

Hi I just have a question, Is there any way to set up your phone to either light up when you are getting a call or you have a text message when the phone is on on silence?

I'm sorry if this has been talked about before but I searched and couldn't find anything.

On my last phone, my phone would light up when I had a text or was receiving or missed a call when the phone is on silence, but so far all i can see is that you get a little and I do mean little green light that flashes and sometimes it doesn't even do that.

Please help, I missed a very important call today. I need to know if there's something i can do.

I use an app called Missed Reminder from the Market. You can set it up to do all sorts of things when youhave a missed call, text, etc. Can keep getting alerted until you physically dismiss it. Works great for me.
