Help All google apps are not working on wifi or 4g

I'm on a Galaxy Note 4, not rooted, with the latest software update from the carrier (Hutchinson Three in the UK). Both on any wifi network and on the 4g network Chrome thinks it's being intercepted and will not connect to any site that I don't directly type in ... say www.yahoo.com. That works, but any searches do not. Same with YouTube etc. If I choose the Internet app, because it gives me the choice to "proceed anyway" I can get buy the issue, but many apps that must use the chrome browser api, do not even give you the choice.

My own network has no proxy server setup or anything like that so after looking through the various settings I'm mystified. Any ideas appreciated.

Thanks.

Welcome to our AndroidForums, Robin :).

Given the lack of replies here in the AQ area (although it is a Sunday), I'm going to move your thread over to our SG Note 4 area for you in hopes that your fellow Note 4 users might have an idea or two to help you out.

Best of luck!

Hi Robin,

Can't say that I have this problem but it sounds to me like you are having a problem verifying SSL certificates. When you type in the URL manually you will certainly type http://sitename bypassing the problem. You could check this by explicitly entering https://example.com and see if you see the same issue and http://example.com to see if that works.

If the http variant works and the https does not then you'll need to restore the phones list of trusted certificates. I would not know how to do this off the top of my head, but if you can confirm my suspicion then I or someone else can help you further.

Regards,
Eric.
