Root All my browsers are hideously sluggish!

I have the stock browser, Firefox, and Chrome on my Maxx. Over time, all three have gradually dragged down to an interminably sluggish pace for everything. Opening them often takes as long as 30 seconds (occasionally more) to fully open and become interactive, and there is a consistent lag of a few seconds between every tap on the screen and the resulting action. The rest of the phone is perfectly fine in terms of performance, so it's definitely something confined to the browsers. Chrome seems to be the worst, but all three are guilty as hell.

I recently wiped my Maxx and flashed CM10, and was hoping that this fresh start would improve things. No dice. They are all every bit as sluggish now as they were on the stock ROM.

I've tried wiping the cache for each app, but it made no difference. I've uninstalled and reinstalled, and that doesn't seem to help for more than the first few uses, then they slow down again. Continued or repeated use brings them up to a reasonable speed after a couple of minutes, but it's painful to get to that point. Does anyone have any ideas on what might be causing this for all three browsers, and how to correct it?

I moved the tread you posted on your root-ed phone to the all-things-root sub-forum.

If "wiped" means Factory Data Reset then it appears to be app-related.

I suggest that you try running in Safe Mode (disabling all apps you added without uninstalling them) for a while and see if the problem is gone. If it is then it is being caused by an app you added.

Yes, when I flashed to CM10, I did a FDR as part of the process.

It seems unlikely that it's app related given that we're talking about three different apps, but I'm happy to give safe mode a try and find out. Unfortunately, I haven't figured out how to get into it. I know I did it once long ago when I was still running the stock ROM, but that process didn't work. Can you enlighten me?

I am having the same issues. I am rooted, but haven't flashed any roms. The only difference between our issues is that every time I try to use the browser or Google Now, everything is unresponsive/freezes for awhile, then usually the "Facebook is not responding, would you like to close it..." warning pops up. I accept to close it, and everything generally will start working. Sometimes the warning does not pop up, but that is when I give up on looking something up on the internet.

I have disabled the Facebook app. So far, so good. It has only been a few hours though, but my tests have been all positive. You might want to give this a try.
