all notifications have the same icon

I have a phone that (I think) it's local to the Philippines/an unknown brand. I'm having a hard time customizing it but what I am most annoyed is that all notifications use just one icon, a white speech bubble. I tried to customize the goSMS notification, yet it still came out as the white speech bubble. I'd there a way I can fix this issue?

What app or apps are creating the notification? To get this info, pull down the Notification bar, long-press the individual notification, and then tap App info.
