Allshare on windows 7 PC not working.

Have Allshare working on my Samsung Galaxy S3. It seems to be working fine as my blue ray player sees the S3 files. Trying to install the Allshare software on my windows 7 PC. have it installed but when it launches it has an error that says "My Computer's shared server is not working. Please check the firewall settings of My Computer."

I have disabled AVAST virus checker program, turned off the service to both windows firewall and windows defender. Also turned off the firewall in my router. I have no other security software on my computer or networking gear.

Any ideas?

Oddly enough I can open up windows media player 12 and it will see the files on the S3. I don't know how to try to see if the S3 can see the files window media player has to see if it works the other way around.

I am going to ask one last time for help with this and if I don't get anything back I will just delete Allshare. I have posted this same post on 3 Android forums as well as Microsoft's Windows 7 forum and not a single response. I called tech support for Samsung and after two days finally got transferred to their tier two tech support who politely told me "They do not offer any kind of tech support for their PC software and that it's plug and play. If it's not working then there must be some wrong with my computer." :(

Can you say PUNT?

If no one can help with this perhaps you can recommend an alternative to the Allshare software.

I think I have figured it out.

You need to have the "Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service" running.

Yes I had that turned on. I ended up deinstalling allshare as I gave up getting it working. Now use Windows media player to share my stuff from the PC.
