Don't use it at all. I'm with you. I think it's mostly marketing hype.

Gives you 5gb extra to stream from. That is about it. I put some video files in there and can stream the video. Other than that, who cares.

If I could get it to work I would use it. It allows you to stream video, music and photos to and from the phone to anything else in your house. Any TV, other phone, tablet or PCs. You can even use it to adjust your thermostat remotely if it is a Samsung thermostat. I have a call into tech support now to try to determine why it won't connect to my PC.

I have a tower pc and an htpc both with samsung allshare program installed and running on them and WD live tv with allshare built in on the bedroom tv. I can put on a slide show, play recorded or saved videos from the phone and I stream music to the htpc that is connected to my big stereo right from the phone with just a tap of a button. It lets me select which of the three devices I want to send it to from any of the three stock apps. pictures,videos and music.

I've been playing with it, I can link my phone with my PC at home and with my PC at work. This means they are all linked when I sign in with my Samsung account and as long as they are on and connected to any WiFi or mobile data then I can move or sync files between them. It's really cool being at work and being able to stream music from my home computer 
At first I thought everything had to be on the same Wifi for it to work, but you only need that the first time so you can register the device, then you can access it from anywhere. I then realised this could be potentially a security risk, but you can only access them when signed in with your Samsung account.

I stream my photos from my phone to my samsung blu-ray so everyone can see them on the TV. Hopefully, Google Music will work as well for when I host a party.
How do you do that? I don't have any Samsung devices at home, but I do have laptop, which plays role of HTPC, connected to my Philips TV. I thought in order for me to see the videos and pictures I need to sync them up with the cloud storage. Is that not the case? How can I watch on my HTPC what I have on my phone without syncing either one with the cloud 5Gb storage?

The software has to be open and the phone has to be on the same network. In the Music Player you'll see in the top left corner a little tv icon with arrows pointing to the right and a number(the number depends on how many devices it sees. mine says 3 yours will probably say one) click on it and select a device you want to stream to. In Video Player app you have to select/play a video an then when you see the controls you'll see the same in the top left corner. In the Gallery app you have to select individual photo and have the menu on top and other photos on bottom showing. The icon is between gmail and play button closer to top right.
Ok, i downloaded AllShare on my HTPC, went through the conection wizard, but computer did not find my phone. Both, phone and PC are on the same network and both have AllShare opened. What is wrong?
I am a little confused with the AllShare implementation on my S3. On my Galaxy Note, it's an app that lets me push stuff to my other Samsung devices, like my Samsung TV or my Galaxy Tab, and vice versa. However, on my S3, the app is called AllShare Play and it goes online? Is this the same thing and does it accomplish the same? I didn't have to log in online with AllShare on my Galaxy Note (but then again, I guess that means I couldn't access stuff when not on my network)....
Have the allshare program open on pc and play a song on your phone then click on the tv icon on the top leaf corner of your phone's screen and select your device . It will start playing automatically. You don't have to do anything on the pc besides having the program open.
You don't have to open the allshare app on the phone. You select the htpc inside the music player, gallery, video player apps.

Not that I know of. You'll need to mirror the screen with an MHL or the Samsung Allshare cast dongle. Correct me if I'm wrong.

From what I understand, what you're doing is the allshare stuff. Are you using a Samsung TV?
If not, how do you have your TV network set up?

I use it to fill in by disabled apps list. Basically useless.
At 1:11 he is mirroring Riptide GP to the tv so I quess it does work with games just as the MHL adapter.

I've also played around with this and am a bit frustrated. I downloaded the AllShare program but as far as I can tell it's really not needed unless you want to stream to multiple devices on your network...no thanks. I have a Samsung SmartTV and if I want to stream to that, I SHOULD be able to do that by tapping the icon at the top of the stock video player, music player or gallery...when I do, it tries to throw whatever I'm looking at onto the TV, but I get "unsupported file format" on the TV...no idea why this happens! I can still use Skifta from the app store to share with the TV, but one of the reasons I got the Samsung phone was for compatibility with my Samsung TV...when I see an error message about file formats, I want to throw my phone through the TV! Any ideas (besides the throwing I mean)?

Seriously though, you are in a good position to contact Samsung for support, seeing as both products are Samsung, which will forestall the usual manufacturers' argument that the problem is with the 'other device' and not theirs, or that they're not compatible with third party hardware.
It could be an issue with settings on the TV and/or the phone...
If you don't get any joy on the forum, Samsung need to resolve your problem or start replacing hardware.
