Almost a DX Newb

Hey all. Was at VZW today looking at the DX & HTC Inc. Like the DX better. Get to upgrade next week. Looking to use the DX for everything; MP3 player (replace my iPod touch), GPS (replace my Magellan), web browser, check email, take pics & vids, texting, oh, and make calls. Still trying to learn as much as I can prior to actually buying the DX. They did tell me it comes with 2.2, so we'll see if I need to upgrade to 2.3 right away or not.

Well, Android 2.3 (aka Gingerbread) isn't out for the DX yet, so no need to worry about that! The latest Motorola firmware for it is 2.3.340, but it's still Android 2.2.1. As for which of those two handsets is better, it's really personal preference. I have a DX and my buddy had an Incredible, and besides the size of the screen, they are very similar, at least hardware-wise. It comes down to 2 things really: do you want the bigger or smaller screen, and do you like Sense or Blur (those are the user interfaces that HTC and Motorola put on top of Android). But both handsets work great for all those things, although the DX does have a better battery life, especially on the stock battery. So just play with them a little at the store and figure out which one "feels" better to you, you can't really go wrong with either one. Welcome to the forum!
