Hi everyone, as the title indicates I'm pretty I need to get my phone rooted. I'd like to be able to get into the phone to recover any data I can if possible.

The major caveat of course is that my screen is cracked and completely inoperable. I can still get into recovery and download mode since the buttons work fine, so I'm hoping that perhaps it may be possible to run some command lines from my PC or something to that effect.

If you want to read more on my situation I made a previous thread here and I was hoping to perhaps avoid rooting the phone. At this point though, I feel as though I've run out of options (I have only a few more ideas left, and I'm doubtful they'll work)

The model of phone I have is the Sprint version of the epic 4g (Galaxy S 2) which I have read is a rather risky phone for rooting, but I don't need to do any CFW or replacing of the OS (at least I assume so, feel free to correct me), so I'm hoping it wont be too arduous of a task.

Can anyone help me? Another user suggested using titanium back up which seems like it may do the trick, but without a touch screen I'm not so sure.

An additional detail, which may likely be a major stumbling block is that the phone is not set to usb debug mode

Hey there everyone. So I managed to most of the data I wanted back without rooting the phone. As I was looking up information on how to root the phone, I downloaded Samsung Kies, (which seems to be the first step in rooting instructions.) I was able to back up most of the information I wanted, even with the cracked screen, without needing to root. I just successfully restored the information to my replacement phone.

Not all of the application data was recognized by their respective apps (which is to be expected without root.) I needed only to re-initialize the downloader.

Voicemail didn't transfer but I can always download that from sprint.

Overall I wouldn't call it a complete success but it was good enough.

I would recommend Samsung phone users give Keis a try.

Thanks for all of your help!
