Root Almost One Click Root

After formating my system yesterday and going to 2.3 I of course lost root. I knew I would. I tried this method over the last root method I did just out of curiosity. I can confirm this does work for 2.3.15 for those who are scared they might lose root and aren't comfortable using a terminal.
 
The only reason I would root is for tethering purposes. Does anyone tether so they can play on their gaming console? If so how does that work out?

i dont have any use for tether but when i did experiment with it i used wireless tether.

you just download the app and give it the superuser permissions (it'll ask you) and then just press tether in the app and itll start.

I haven't tried it on a console but I just did a test on my laptop. Speeds ranged from .5 mbps to 1.5 mbps. These speeds are ok for internet, not sure how games will perform.

Pretty slow if I were to play a game online. I was just wondering in areas I didn't have internet access, would tethering suffice. 1.5 isn't to bad if it could be consistent.
 
It will depend on where you are. If you are in a good 3g area, you will probably be fine. Otherwise, it will probably suck.
 
ROTFLOL, not that long ago DSL was a saving grace over 56KBPS, and now we're calling 1.5MPBS perfectly adequate. How times have changed, lol.

I had the same problem. Turns out the Motorola drivers weren't installed correctly.
If they are installed correctly, when you plug in your D2, your browser should open up automatically to a VZW page.
 
I owned a BB forever and received lots of good info over the yrs so I want to return the favor if anyone is having trouble on this topic....

So I was attempting this on a 64bit Windows 7 PC. EVERYTHING was good except the ADB finding my phone. Drivers were fine I think.

In the end I went to a 32bit Vista PC. Leave Debugging OFF. Plug the phone in and let the PC install it's own drivers. It won't find install correctly if the phone is in debugging mode for the first time. Then I turned debugging on. The only thing I had to do was download the drivers from

USB and PC Charging Drivers - Motorola, Inc. USA

just the first one. Even after I started ADB it still wouldn't run from "doroot". I had to open a command prompt go into the tools folder then I just typed "doroot" and BOOM!!!!!!

Idiot question, do you load the drivers onto the computer or phone?
 
This is the message that I get over and over again

'adb' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.

Then I get a message Congrats you should be rooted, no errors. Press any key to continue.
