Lurker
I received my Razr Maxx yesterday, and after several attempts at auto activate it I was finally able to get it working by calling in. When I got home, I charged it for several hours (I received it with a low battery) to get it to 100%. when I went to bed everything seemed cool.

When I woke up 5 hours later it wouldn't turn on. I tried everything to get it going, but nothing worked. I remembered the video about doing a hard reset, and tried that. After several attempts it finally turned on... and this phone that is supposed to go days without needing a charge was at 40% battery after only 5 hours of standby mode. I am currently charging it at work.

Has anyone else had this problem?

i didnt, ive had mine for 4 days now, and after the first 100% charge it lasted over a day at 100% brightness with tons of app downloading...

did you fully charge it? because i swear this is the slowest charging phone ive ever seen. it takes roughly 4 hours for me to go from 10% to 100...

if you still get crappy battery life after a cycle or two, try doing a calibration:
"Have you tried a deep discharge? As in let it completely go below 1% and shut down by itself, recharge fully w/o stops, power it on/off, then back on, plug it back into the charger for a full hour, power off then back on and see how it tracks and uses battery. "
(i cant remember which AF member i got this off of)

i did that calibration and my discharge curve is much more linear.

Are you using the Charger that the phone came with?

When i first got my Maxx i tried using my old phone charger since it was micro usb, ended up charging for about 3 hours and the phone was still at 20% when i took it off. When i used the charger they gave me everything was all good, maybe your experiencing something similar?

Thanks guys. I am using the charger that came with the phone, and it was at 100% after I charged it last night.

As an update, I have been charging it at work now for about 2 1/2 hours and it has only gone from 40% to 60%. I figured it would take longer than my Droid X to charge. But the fact that it went from 100% to 40% after 5 hours of standby concerns me.

At this rate, it will take much longer to charge it than it does to run the battery down.

Also, as I mentioned in the original post the phone shut off and would not turn back on this morning... any ideas? I'm thinking defective battery.

It isn't charging any slower than other batteries IMHO. This battery is huge. It is like taking a 20 oz and a 2 liter and getting upset that the 2 liter isn't filling up as fast as the 20 oz. This phone lasts me all day without a charge and without limiting it. Even though I can go all day, I still put it on the charger while driving as I have a Smart Action to do a bunch of things when I connect a charger and headphones. I use my phone connected to my stereo for everything. Calls, navi, MP3. This phone is amazing. Just charge it while you sleep and you will be fine. Plugging it in whenever convenient is also a bonus of security...which isn't necessary but still a nice feeling lol.

Again, the fully charged battery went from 100% to 40% in just 5 hours while on standby. And it then shut off and wouldn't turn back on until after several attempts to do a hard reboot. Even as it charges now (5 hours of charging from 40% and it is still only at 80%) it occasionally does not respond when you press the power button to view the unlock screen.

Verizon said the phone is defective and are sending me another one. Thanks everyone for your feedback!
