Alternative car mount?

Nate1n22

Newbie
I want to mount my Galaxy S2 in my car but mounting it to the windshield in not an option.
Is there any sort of accessory that lets you mount it somewhere else?

Also the dash isn't an option.

Thanks

I use this one and absolutely love it. it goes into the cd player. It works surprisingly well.

I like vent mounts. They put the phone up nice and high which is good for GPS signal and keeping your eyes on the road.

If you want to rotate portrait to landscape, it can be a little hard since it uses a ball joint. Tightening the ball joint up so bumps don't cause it to sag down makes it hard to rotate for landscape.

I had it for quite awhile when I had my iPhone. It is my favorite mount by far. The GSII will fit into it securely with no case. This mount uses a ball joint so you can point it in the direction you need AND a rotating device with detents which make it very easy to go from landscape to portrait. It is nice and small. When I got a case, I went to the Akron but liked the Kensington so much that I modified the Kensington to accept the GSII with case (a little Dremel tool action and moved the rubbery pads that help hold the phone securely).

.

I've tried that one as well. It worked ok in my car. the vent in my a little bit thin and the vent mount actually fell off a few times while I was driving...I was worried about killing my phone and needed something a little sturdier for my car. I've read people will put like a rubber tube on the mount to fix it, but I was just too lazy

another option is i love speakerphone visor mounted devices. i hate bluetooth head sets or ear sets. motorola and jabra have some of the loudest and best, in my many years of experience.

the fairly new jabra freeway has had great reviews and awards, and is surround sound WITH TWO 3 WATT SPEAKERS and 2 mics for noise cancellation! i plan to buy it soon.

i have found my 2 watt motorola t 505 bluetooth version 2.0 is NOT compatible apparently with the galaxy s 2 bluetooth version 3.0, so make sure if you go with a bluetooth visor speakerphone you only get a 3.0 device.

motorola also has a new visor speakerphone, the roadster. it is cheaper, $99 vs. $125 for the jabra freeway, but the motorola roadster only has 2 watts and the jabra freeway has 3 watts. i prefer it to be loud.

if a visor speakerphone is an option, just google the reviews and specs for both models. i do not own the roadster or the freeway; i only have the motorola t505 which i just found out is not compatible. remember to check the device's bluetooth software version, and go with 3.0 bluetooth to be safe.

just a few ideas for you.

I thought about the vent mount but didn't know if it would work as good as the cd one.

I got the cd mount today and I like it a lot.
