Always listening App Possibility?

[LaFlavor]

So, there are apps on the Play Store that mimic the active notifications of the Moto X, but more useful for us would be something that mimics the always listening feature. I'm led to understand the the chipset in the N5 supports it, so would it be possible for a developer to make an app that does the same, or is this impossible? I would really rather be able to activate the phone without having to touch it sometimes as opposed to going to the home screen.

Yes, I was a bit bummed it wasn't "always listening" and that you have to be on your homescreen. I have no idea about the technical details but the XDA forum seems to suggest it's not likely without a custom ROM :-(

N5 getting Moto X always listening feature in future update? - xda-developers

Thanks for the thread. Hopefully some of the devs will at least look into it. This is a feature I'd be willing to switch ROMs for.
