Am I crazy, or does this actually work? Home

OK. I have been tweaking the Droid Eris for ~ 2 weeks now...this morning I ran across an app called Home which supposedly stops cache from building up on the phone. It is a simple app, open it and it says "Home Active - Optimizing Device Memory". There is no other functionality built in.

Since installing this, I would swear that my lag is gone. The HTC Stock Widget moves without the pause, scrolling through apps has NO pauses, moving from screen to screen is smooth, my Gmail is coming through in 10 sec as opposed to 1 min, apps load quickly, browsing on Dolphin is faster than ever and Facebook news feed loads in no time...

Just to give you a snapshot of my environment so that there is an understanding of what is at play here.....

WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth - all off
25 apps loaded outside of stock apps
Toggle Settings app says 118MB/159MB available memory

I would love some feedback from other Android users that understand the inner workings of the Android OS....am I just lucky, does this actually work, and if so, should this be labeled a MUST HAVE app?

Sounds like this app clears cache build up on phone. I have not tried it. I clear my cache manually.

Setting-applications-manage applications ...

Click on apps, find ones with cache, click clear cache, and you have a faster phone.

I posted up with a short list of which apps I have that need clearing. Search using keyword "cache". Market and browser hold a lot of cache.

I'm not so sure about this app. Usually aren't caches designed to cut down on load times and speed things up? If you notice the cache is different than the app data.

I just downloaded this app as well. And now when I open an an app, it's amazing how fast the shorcuts open! Could it just be in my head?

Lol, I'm still convinced that this is a joke and the app is completely without function. Yet.. I find myself wanting to try it anyways. Must resist.

I started this thread, and have had it on my phone since. I'm still not convinced its doing anything, but the performance of my Eris has been consistent since then. Since I am not a software developer, I have no clue whether it is working or not, but it seems better.

I used to have it. It seemed like it worked at first and for a few days. It really seemed like it sped up some lag on the home screen. After that though I just got rid of it. It seemed like when I would start it, it would actually cause my home screens to lag right after I use it. :(

It was cool while it lasted...

I have a gut feeling it's a trap, but i do have it. Don't see a real need to use it though, my eris runs fine.

LOL... I have no idea if it's real or not.. I'm tempted to load it. I really haven't noticed must slowness on my Eris except when you are showing it to people and they tip it sideways to see the wide keyboard. I rarely use it that way, so the lag doesn't bother me at all.. but if this is real....somebody post back.
