Yes, it's the Optimus Fuel. My carrier is Tracfone which uses Verizon in this area.
 
Oh I got gangs of questions, this is my first smartphone. One thing annoying, the camera isn't good enough to use for check deposits on my bank app. Do the HD camera apps in any way improve the camera definition?
 
I don't think a different camera app would affect your bank app as that app shouldn't be able to access a third party app. I'm kind of surprised the banking app doesn't work, though. Does it have resolution settings within it?

When you try to deposit a check does it give you an error? What banking app, if i might ask?
 
No, when the app installed, it actaully said due to your device's camera resolution you will not be able to use it for deposits. Not much good for me w/o that feature.
 
According to the LG website this phone has a camera with a 3MP resolution. While that is on the lower end for modern phones, I don't see how a 2048 x 1536 image would fail to meet a minimum resolution.

I just did a quick search for check samples and came up with this.

Which is only 1600 pixels wide. Unless the app is using a lower camera resolution or downsampling the image, that should be more than adequate. You might want to call your bank about this.
 
Try to uninstall and install the bank app again..I think that will do..some times apps tend to load half way through..I recommend to have a secondary camera app on your phone(just in case)..some camera apps have way more capabilities(no resolution..like the moderator says that doesn't improve..a lemon tree can never grow to produce mangos, can it?..lol..)than others..I know that as a fact..I deleted my native camera long time ago..try CameraMX..

maybe it is a setting in the camera app itself. raise the resolution too full 3mp.

also.. these kind of apps..
normally do better in brighter lights.
 
Ok thanx. I did delete the app, cuz as I said, w/o that feature it's of no use to me. I'll increase the camera resolution settings then try re-installing the app. I'll let you know how I made out. Didn't think a diff app could improve the camera.
 
Well now I download the app (16MB) but it says it can't install because not enough memory. There are a ton of apps on there I don't/won't use, but it won't allow me to uninstall them just uninstall updates. And it warns against doing that. Any suggestions to free up memory? I've done what I know to do, like put music/pics on SD card. BTW, should have mentioned, this is Android 4.4.
 
If I export my contacts to SD card, will they still be available when I use the contacts app? On my last phone, LG 305C, when you sent contacts to SD you lost lost them from the contacts list. You had to send them back to phone to be available.
 
The problem that you're running into is common with lower end phones. This one has, according to the specs, 1.79 gb total internal memory which must accommodate the system, recovery and user storage. You will run out of space very quickly. Removing some apps and clearing caches and limiting message storage will be helpful, but I'm afraid you'll be at this constantly is you want to try more apps -- especially those with higher functionality. SD cards are really only for media storage. Even if you try the the workarounds to move apps to SD, it only moves part of the app and you still need enough free internal memory to install it before it can be moved (if it can be moved at all). Plus, apps running from SD will degrade performance and possibly shorten the life of the SD card.

To make this phone more useable, you will have to root it and install a custom rom with a minimal footprint. I don't know what the development community has available for this model and it's really only a partial solution. It takes a bit of research and will (theoretically) void your warranty. I wish I had better news for you but there's only so much you can do with a device that has limited resources.

Well, that answers my next question, "why was this phone sooooooo cheap?" :rolleyes: Thanx for the help!
 
There are some very capable budget minded phones available. The problem you are going to have is to find one that works well with a CDMA (Verizon/Sprint) networks.
 
I have this phone and it works well for me. It certainly isn't a $100 phone, but it is nice for a low cost or no cost phone. I have a few choice apps installed (actually more than a few), and I don't have a problem with space. I still have 600 mb free. The apps that I can move to the SD card, I move. The bigger problem for me is the low amount of RAM. That makes the phone a bit laggy. It's certainly not a phone you can play large games on, but for PIM (Personal Information Manager) apps, it's great.

However, I don't have any advice as to banking apps and whether they work or not because I don't use them.

Incidentally, the last time I checked, there was not a custom ROM available as yet. You might want to be on the lookout for ROMs for the Verizon LG Zone because I believe it is the same phone, but as I said, I don't think there are any custom ROMs available yet. However, the stock ROM does a good job of memory management, and I'm actually impressed by its efficiency.
