Hi folks. I am very new to rooting and appear to have hit a road-block already. It really bugs me because I spent days reading up on it and when I did the deed a few minutes ago it all went fine, I think... I followed the directions here very carefully and it all seemed to go exactly as it is shown in the video. Of course my next step was to install Titanium Backup and I have done that, but when I go to fire it up it tells me it does not have root access. Huh? I have a Super User icon in apps and can open it, but that is as far as I am willing to go until I get TiBu working and that is at the moment not possible. Is there some other step I have to take before I get root access? How else can I determine whether I have root access or not?
Thanks.
Edit: I should have said it is my SGH-i717D Galaxy Note that I am trying to root.
Edit x 2: I have also successfully performed a CWM backup.
Edit x 3!!! (sorry 'bout the multiple edits...) This is what I get when I open TiBu: "Sorry, I could not acquire root privileges. This application will *not* work! (gee thanks) Please verify ..." etc etc. "This attempt was made using the "/system/bin/su" command.""
Edit x 4... (This is getting silly) I am thinking the instructions at the site I used are NFG. I will try again using a different set of instructions and see what happens. It should be noted (no pun intended) that I found that vid in the "All Things Root" section.
Thanks.
