Amazon Appstore vs. Android Market

I have both installed on my phone but I would like to simplify my app downloading/updating process as much as possible.

I have been keeping an eye on the amazon free app of the day, and lately it has been garbage. For what it is worth i would rather pay the dollar or two for the app in the android market if i really want it, thus i would have all of my apps in the same place.

I have also noticed that when apps update in the android market it takes a few days, maybe even longer for the amazon store to get the update. Sometimes this is problematic for me if an app has been causing problems and an update has a fix.

I have noticed a few apps that have launched exclusively through the amazon appstore such as plants vs. zombies. So i am really wondering if i delete the amazon appstore is there anything else super awesome that i can only get through the amazon appstore and not on the android market. Or should i just make the switch?

That implies you have dual copies of the apps. You can't see that an app needs an update unless you have the app installed.

I only use the Amazon appstore for the free app of the day or if they have a better price than the Android Market. I have several Amazon free apps that costs $6. Also, Amazon doesn't have all of the same apps the market has, so I'm keeping both.

I don't have two copies, I took the time to look at the app version in the android market vs the app version in the amazon store, and I was surprised at how many of the apps in the android market are newer versions. The amazon appstore is nice for free apps but if it is an app I really use and want I would rather buy it and support the developer.

I have mostly used the amazon store for free games but even then most of them are available in the android market and only cost a few dollars.

I think (but am probably mistaken and will be soundly corrected) that if you uninstall the Amazon App store that you lose access to some of the DRM'd games they sell.

I believe you to be correct.

One advantage of the Amazon Appstore is that it is easier, IME, to transfer apps and to use one copy of an app on multiple devices.

I have titanium backup for backing up apps, and works great when transferring from one phone to another. My biggest issue is the lack of speed to which apps update and just the hassle of having to check two places for new apps/updates.

This is 100% correct

Also version numbers may not be the same for the different places. If the dev decides to use amazon drm then the version number should be different
