Amazon Cloud Drive for music thread

I am still in the middle of uploading my 26GB music library to the cloud, but I have a few comments on the whole thing:

-From what I've seen, it looks to be a promising service. I can't wait to see where this will go in the future.
-I am disappointed that there is nothing between the 20GB and 50GB plans. Such as 30GB, or 35GB. I have a little over 20GB, and am forced to go with the 50GB plan - which I will NEVER fill up.
- Since I have SO much available space, I would LOVE it if I could upload movies to the cloud!
-I also have not tried it yet, but when you buy music from the Amazon store on your phone you are given the option of saving it to your phone, or to the cloud. I wish I could do both (even if it does take up space on the cloud, since I have so much available space, I don't really mind). I like having my music on my HDD and in iTunes (I will still use iTunes for my computer - this service is simply for getting music to my phone, without taking up SD Card storage)

I was under the impression if you buy the music from amazon and choose to download it to your phone it is also stored in the cloud it just does not go against your storage.

From the OP "...new purchases from the Amazon MP3 Store are stored for free and do not count against your storage quota..." You have the option to not download the file at all if you do not want native access to the file and just want it in the cloud.

Possibly... But I purchased\downloaded some music through the app last night, and chose to download the songs to my device - rather than to the cloud (just because I wasn't sure I wanted to begin using the service, at the time), and so the songs went to my phone - and not the cloud.
But I will have to try\test it out some more, since I don't think I had "activated" the service when I was buying the music, so that may be why the songs didn't ALSO go to the cloud.

One last note: I am playing around with the app, and listening to my music on the cloud, and I am disappointed with the streaming speed. I guess it will always have some loading\buffering time, and I should have expected this - I just didn't realize\think about it. This is turning me off. (I can't blame anyone but myself for this - I just didn't even think about the need for it to load\buffer, and it makes sense now that I have experienced it)

I'm probably the only person in the world with absolutely zero in downloadable media!

Part of the reason is because I didn't want to spend all this money on downloads only to be locked in by Microsoft and Apple and I didn't want to put my hopes in something like a Zen which could fail in the market. The other reason is that most of what I listen to is either classical (which is hard to enjoy on the go) or not even available on itunes.

Now that amazon has a complete and open solution I will get into this more.

I had done exactly that prior to downloading the free song of the day. Once I did that download, and that was on my phone, I was asked to accept the terms. I did this and all was good.

The Amazon Music uploading program is pretty decent as well.

Same here, but I clicked the link he just provided, accepted the TOS again, logged out of Amazon on my phone, logged back in, and now it works. Not sure why I had to do it again, but whatever, it works now. Hope that helps.

You're not the only one. I'm exactly the same. I like to have my media with me and always available.

Except for this licensing nonsense possibly. It would be a bummer if I found MY music stored in the cloud is NOT available, because Amazon doesn't have a distribution license from Sony Music, the RIAA or whomever for a country I happen to be in at the time.

Is anyone storing their music only in the cloud with no redundancy?

I have all my music on my hard drive. It's just nice to have Amazon's Cloud Storage as an extra backup and a way to access my favorite music from anywhere.

Are people really uploading their music to Amazon's servers and then deleting said music from their local hard drives?

But the music doesn't have to be in the cloud. It can be also be on the local device.
Someone wrote that he had all his music in the cloud with some other service and when they went out of business, he lost all his tunes. I couldn't trust Amazon if it was just about the cloud.

Doubt people are that stupid but if you get new music, you should be sure to save it on your pc.
First, I buy the mp3 to the cloud, change settings so I can download to PC (have to save them one at a time...) then I change the settings back to the cloud.
That way i have the music on both PC and cloud and I have unlimited cloud storage space!

I am really impressed by this service. I had no problem streaming music over 3G but I am always around a 4G signal so that's what I'll be using most of the time.
