I recently updated my Orange UK Samsung to 2.2.1 by hacking kies. The update worked fine until I turned the phone off and on. When I did that all my contacts were gone and most apps were not working. After restoring my contacts and reinstalling the broken apps my phone is now working except Amazon Kindle.

When you first install Amazon kindle you are asked to register your device. You never need to log in again afterwards. But as my phone crashed mine did required another registration and every time I try to register my Kindle it fails. Interestingly my Amazon.co.uk account has a list of my registered devices and the list keeps growing every time I try to register my phone (e.g. Ross's 8th Android Device etc etc).

I have tried uninstalling the app and all my books and reinstall the app but nothing is working.

I also emailed Amazon who's usless advice was to "check that I was connected to the internet." Great.

ANy advice on this would be greatly appreciated. I only bought one book on the device that cost 70p so no real matter. But if Amazon want my money then they should at least give better advice.

Go onto amazon, then onto the Manage my Kindle page, deregister all the devices, once you've done that open the app on your phone and enter your details, then go onto onto the manage my kindle page again and send the book to your phone.

This should work, everytime I flash a new rom on my phone I have to re-register on amazon, it's a pain in the hoop.

tried this but it doesn't work. Each time I try to re register it just adds android devices to my amazon list, and I get a message on my phone saying that they re unable to register me at teh mo and can i confirm my email and password.

Have emailed amazon and will let you know if I get anything more helpful than check your wifi!

Hi loopyjump. I am having exactly the same problem and have been in touch with Amazon about this. My phone crashed and on restarting it I can't use my Kindle for exactly the same reason. Someone from Amazon is investigating and is going to ring me back this week, hopefully with an answer. If they can get it working for me, I'll let you know, or if you've already got yours working can you please let me know how? My Kindle on my PC shows about 10 "Allison's Androids"!!!

to allison.got exactly the same problem!! spent hours on it but still have to keep on entering my (correct) username and password and keep on getting knocked back!!Pse let me know if you find a way round this.

Has anyone had any joy in finding a way round this?

I spent a good while on the phone to the Amazon helpdesk; they eventually escalated it to their Android app team. Two days later they called back but all they could tell me was that it was a known issue and they were still looking to find a resolution.

In my case I upgraded to Froyo 'legitimately' (i.e. no hacks) and all was lovely to start with. Re-registered Kindle no problem. Then, a week or so later i switched on the phone and it appeared to have reset itself. The home page was back to the default setting.

All of my apps were there except one - Kindle, which had mysteriously disappeared. So I downloaded it again.

When I first launch the application and try to enter my details, I get an error message immediately which says "Error loading content. We were unable to complete your request at this time. Please try again later. If you continue having problems you may need to restart the application."

I then close that message down and try again. After a few seconds the message appears saying "Registration failed. Please confirm your e-mail address and password and try again."

Interestingly, the error message you get if you actually do put in the wrong e-mail address just says "Invalid e-mail or password".

I have tried uninstalling the application and reinstalling, with and without switching the phone on and off, with and without clearing all data, using the phone and the SD card as install locations, all to no avail.

If I hear anything back from Amazon I shall post back here...

Hey,
I cant take credit for this one, but i found it in the amazon uk help forum.
first, uninstall kindle.
then, what you need to do is delete the cache that the kindle created on your galaxy. use any root software (I used root explorer) and search for kindle. then delete all the files that are shown.
deregister all your mobile kindle from the manage my kindle page in amazon.
install kindle again and register and you're good to go
hope it helps

This worked perfectly for me. Thanks!

This thread includes a piece that I don't think was addressed by this answer... It's this: The Kindle-for-Android App makes me RE-REGISTER my "device" every single time I open it, which means that when I go to "Manage My Kindle / Manage my Devices" on Amazon, I see DOZENS of "Android" devices, one for every single time I've closed and then re-opened this App on my Android... That's just nuts... It's an interface that wasn't designed very well... If anyone knows a way to NOT have to "RE-REGISTER" every time I launch the App, I'd love to hear about it. Thanks --

BTW, I talked to Amazon "support" about this and they just had me un-install and re-install. *Shockingly*, that didn't do a damn thing.

I have had a similar problem, but I believe mine is of a different variety. After installing the Kindle app (on my phone it's called "Amazon Kindle") and then clicking on it, it immediately closes. I used alogcat to see the command lines going on around the error and this is what it produced:

--------- beginning of /dev/log/main
--------- beginning of /dev/log/system
W/InputManagerService( 182): Window already focused, ignoring focus gain of: com.android.internal.view.IInputMethodClient$Stub$Proxy@409519a8

I highlighted the part I think is the culprit, but I don't know what it means. After looking at this, I re-wiped my Dalvik Cache, and internal cache to no avail. I've also tried uninstalling / reinstalling, and the methods provided in this forum.

Anyone have other suggestions?

EDIT:
I'm using an HTC Incredible running CM 7.1.0

I put a new SD card in my phone. None o f my kindle orders were being delivered so I checked at Amazon. A delivery option was deliver to my 3rd android, I clicked that and the book was sent. Great! But now I have to do that for every order. And my account still shows I have 11 books to be delivered even though I already have them. How do I fix this?

You might sign in your Amazon account via PC.
Not sure about that there you could correct the issue, but it might worth a try :)
