Without ICS I think the Amazon Kindle Fire looks pretty dumb.

There is a way to change the kindle fire interface with out rooting. I personally don't care for the stock interface my self.

What I did was

Side loaded "Go Launcher EX"
GO Launcher | GO

This allowed me to customize the interface to look more like a stock interface.

Then I downloaded a program called wallchanger from here
Change Kindle Fire wallpaper without rooting !

I have a problem with side loading Go Launcher Ex. I side loaded it and it was there at my third-party applications list. but it was not in my Apps list. what should I do? I have a 2nd gen Kindle Fire. Does anybody have any idea what to do?

Kindle Fire HD is out is the reason posts here are losing momentum.
Anyone buying a kindle now would be buying that one....

(but to my mind anyone with any sense would buy a Nexus 7 instead)

+1. The nexus 7 came out about a three weeks after I bought the kf. Oops. It's all good though. I still like the device. At least the specs are better in the 2nd gen version.

I got my KF for Christmas last year and it's had a good amount of use, however had I known that Google was bringing out the Nexus 7 (and obviously how good it is) I'd have waited.

I'd like to see an N7 under the tree tomorrow, but it isn't in the budget. The KF doesn't do bad running JB mind you, but the lack of a camera and mic stops me from using it to skype my parents (something I do each week since I live on the other side of the world)

It's all good though
