Hey everyone,

I just got the S6 and Amazon is one of the apps I use the most. A friend suggested getting Clean Master as well which seems great. It tells me once every day or so that Amazon is frequently restarting causing my device to overheat. Many times when I unlock the phone, the Amazon app pops right up and opens when I didn't have it open, and didn't even load it. I use this app religiously so hate to get rid of it, but are there any options to fix this? Not sure if it actually causes big issues or what not but it's always Amazon shopping and Kindle, Clean Master keeps saying they both keep restarting draining my battery and overheating my device.

I'm in the same situation. All Amazon apps (shopping, music, kindle and instant video). These are the main culprits restarting according to CM. I was Googling a solution when I found this post.

First thing, remove Clean Master. That app is an invasive, privacy violating piece of crapware that will degrade your performance and allow Cheetah Mobile (the developers) to start spamming you. See the links for further information.

It's also doubly redundant because Samsung have integrated a version of that same crap in the S6's ROM (a decision which has many people scratching their heads).

Many apps will restart after killing them, so all you do is waste power by killing them. That's the main reason why app killers are a bad idea. So seriously my advice is to delete Clean Master, install a decent battery monitor like GSam, leave the phone to run normally for a cycle or two without any task killers then use GSam to see what apps are actually using a significant amount of power. If the Amazon apps are big users, then post again and we'll see what ideas we can come up with to reduce this. But don't assume that an app is a problem just because your OS keeps reloading it - an app that's hibernating in RAM, or a service that's occasionally checking for updates, is perfectly normal and will be doing a lot less harm than an app that's fighting with the OS like this.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention but Clean Master also uses malware-like techniques to increase its installed based. We have another member suffering this right now. Would you trust apps from a company that works that way on your phone?

Just leave it be. The app restarting and overheating the battery isn't true. Basically Amazon apps are designed to be running in the background to notify you of their stuff. Sales, promos, etc. If I remember correctly, in the apps' settings there are options to control those notifications, which may allow more battery savings.
