Amazon vs Verizon Store

Good morning all,

I have an iPhone 4s and my friend's interested in buying it for $300. This would take care of my AT&T ETF as well as give me $35 profit. With this, I planned on buying a DROID RAZR MAXX; however, I'm debating between Amazon's site ($199) and Verizon store ($299). What's the difference?

I'm curious to know if Amazon phones are refurbished or something... Any idea? Also, for those of you who have the MAXX, how do you like it? Do you regret your decision?
 
Probably just a better price.
I can go down to the ATT store and price phones at 600 to 700 dollars and find the same phones between 500 and 600 on Amazon. Both price sets are well out of my range, but is shows that Amazon has lower prices.
If items are refebished on Amazon they normally state they are referbs.

Sweet. Do you know of any other differences besides price?
 
I don't know for sure, but I'm betting that if you have problems with the phone, you'll have to take the phone back to Amazon for service and support. Note that I said phone and not wireless service. If you buy the phone from Verizon, you can look to them for support for phone and service.

Again, I could be wrong, so anyone chime in here and correct me...
 
Just ordered mine off Amazon last week. Cheaper and had free 2 day shipping. Brand new phone and everything. Definitely go the Amazon route.
 
Amazon actually has a better return policy. With both, you have 14 days to return for full refund or exchange. Amazon, like verizon will send you a replacement phone before you ship the other one back. Amazon gives you 40 days to return the exchange, Verizon 30 days. The advantage Verizon gives you is that if you do have a problem, you can walk into the store and get it replaced that very day if they have in stock. Is that worth the extra $100? Only you can decide that.
 
Watch out for this fine print in Amazon's cell phone policy:

Note: should you cancel your service with the carrier within 181 days, you may also be subject to an additional fee in accordance with the AmazonWireless Instant Discount Terms and Conditions.

Meaning; if you dont keep service with verizon for at least 6 months after buying the phone, thy can charge you a fee up to $250. This fee does not exist with verizon directly, or other resellers. This fee is in addition to the ETF.

Correction: that's a standard clause when you buy a phone from a 3rd party reseller.
 
I got mine from Amazon for $229. With my discounts and what not, I could have gotten it from VZW for $200. But since I am lucky enough to live in CA, I am required to pay tax on the full retail price, which adds another $50+ to VZW's price. I still came out ahead thru Amazon. Plus, they have a 30 day defective, replace with brand new, no questions asked policy. I swapped mine on day 28 and they didn't blink an eye sending me a brand new one. With the price drop, you still come out ahead on Amazon since there is no tax (in most states anyway).
 
Looking to re-up with a new phone before VZW drops the unlimited data.

When working through VZW, if they decide to yank unlimited data this summer, I could cancel without paying the early termination (and keep the phone) since they would be changing the terms of the contract.

If I purchase through Amazon, would I still be on the hook for the 181 days if VZW changes terms of service?
